Calling all young bakers and their families to join the Brisa foundation for Brisa bakes! Learn how to be safe and clean in the kitchen, read and understand recipes, measure, mix, and bake!

Hands-on baking classes specially curated by board-certified child psychiatrists for children and adolescents with psychiatric illness, intellectual disability, and hardship.

Led by board-certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists who provide practical skill training and therapeutic support throughout each class.

Supported by volunteers and professionals, youth and their families will join a caring and inclusive environment promoting skill development and self-actualization.

From preparing various breads to creating delectable customized edible cookie dough, Brisa Bakes! offers a series of baking classes that will provide children and adolescents with psychiatric illness, intellectual disability, and hardship with hands on instruction in basic baking techniques in a ‘Pay What You Can’ financial model.

Led by a board-certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, Brisa Bakes! offers practical skill training to increase confidence in the kitchen and provides youth with special needs therapeutic connection and targeted support throughout the class. Through partnership with likeminded volunteers and local universities Brisa Bakes! will offer support from social workers, physical & occupational therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists who aim to create a space of sharing, caring, and connection in the kitchen.  We encourage our participants to find self-actualization in their accomplishments within the Brisa Bakes! environment while we celebrate everyone’s unique and special contribution.

Sessions will include in class preparation of a bakery or café item and students will take the recipe and their creation home to share with family and friends.  Classes will focus on reading and understanding recipes, accurate measuring procedures, applicable mixing techniques, and sanitary practices. Classes have been specially curated by to cater to those with psychiatric and/or physical disabilities.
